Nothing Compounds Sitting Still

Good morning from London, Reader

Last Sunday, writing from Riyadh, I shared an idea that had crystallised during my week in Saudi Arabia:

The next great wealth transfer is actually two transfers.
Financial capital.
And the wisdom that created it.

This week, back in London, I realised there is another part to that idea. Nothing compounds simply because it has been preserved.

Capital has to be deployed.
Wisdom has to circulate.
Ideas have to be acted upon.
Relationships have to be developed.
Opportunities have to be pursued.

And that has pretty much described my week. I came back from Riyadh with conversations, introductions, possibilities and a notebook full of ideas. But possibilities are not outcomes. So much of this week has been about what happens after the interesting part.

The follow-up.
Turning an introduction into a conversation.
Turning a conversation into a demo.
Turning a demo into a proposal.
Turning broad interest into a specific use case.
Working out who actually has the problem.
Who owns the decision.
And whether there is enough value to do something meaningful about it.

Some of those conversations are now progressing with prospective buyers. Others with potential partners. Others with investors. And several look materially different, and potentially much larger, than they did when the original conversation began. It reminded me of something I think founders often get wrong.

We place enormous importance on the moment.
The conference.
The pitch.
The introduction.
The meeting.
The handshake.

But none of those is really the opportunity. The opportunity is created in what happens afterwards. And strangely, exactly the same principle applies to expertise.

This week I also finished writing the final draft of a White Paper. Nearly, three years of thinking around human expertise, judgement, institutional knowledge, AI and what we're building at YOORZ® finally had to be distilled into something coherent enough to put on paper.

That process itself was revealing. Because knowledge sitting inside my head was useful to me. Written down, structured and articulated, it became something other people could interrogate, challenge, share and build upon. And that is the distinction I keep coming back to.

Preserving expertise is valuable.
But if it simply sits inside a folder, database or archive, very little has changed.
Wisdom begins to compound when somebody else can access it.
Question it.
Apply it.
Challenge it.
Use it to make a better decision.
And eventually add something new to it.

That's when knowledge stops behaving like stored information and starts behaving like an asset. It's increasingly how I think about the Standard Operating Persona (SOP) at YOORZ®.

The objective isn't simply to capture what somebody knows.
It's to make that expertise deployable.
Available to a team.
Useful to a customer.
Accessible to the next generation.
Capable of informing thousands of future conversations and decisions.
Because preservation protects value.
Circulation compounds it.

Saudi reminded me that wisdom is wealth. This week in London reminded me that wealth only compounds when it is put to work. Perhaps the same applies to almost everything worthwhile.

Relationships.
Knowledge.
Ideas.
Opportunity.
Nothing compounds sitting still.

So my question this Sunday is: What valuable thing are you currently preserving that should actually be circulating?

If you’d like to join the wait list for the White Paper when it’s published, please email info@yoorz.ai with “INTERESTED” in the subject line.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

I believe one of the greatest untapped assets in every organisation is the expertise that exists inside people's heads. At yoorz.ai, we help founders, business owners and organisations transform that expertise into Interactive Digital Assets through what we call Standard Operating Personas (SOPs). An SOP captures the knowledge, judgement and experience of an individual, making it accessible 24/7 to support customers, train teams, answer questions, generate market intelligence and create new commercial opportunities. Our philosophy is simple: Human expertise shouldn't disappear. It should compound. Unlike generic AI assistants, every Standard Operating Persona is built around the unique expertise of a specific person or organisation. The result is a digital asset that can scale knowledge far beyond the limits of time, geography or availability. Today, we're working with founders, creators and businesses across multiple industries, helping them preserve expertise, improve customer engagement, accelerate onboarding, and unlock entirely new ways of creating value. Our work typically begins with either an AI Opportunity Audit or a Commercial Transformation Framework, ensuring we understand where expertise creates the greatest commercial impact before recommending any technology. My background spans over 20 years in institutional finance, having worked in London and New York with firms including J.P. Morgan, Merrill Lynch, UBS and Citi, before founding yoorz.ai. Every Sunday I share my thoughts on AI, business transformation, entrepreneurship and the future of human expertise through this newsletter. If you'd like to learn more about transforming expertise into a scalable business asset, I'd love to have you along for the journey. Website: www.yoorz.ai

Good morning from Riyadh, Reader Last Sunday I wrote: The model is rented. The expertise is owned. After a week in Saudi Arabia, meeting family offices, founders, investors and businesses, that idea has taken on a much bigger meaning for me. Because there is an extraordinary transition happening here. An enormous amount of wealth is moving from one generation to the next. But after the conversations I've had this week, I think we may be describing that transition incorrectly. The next great...

Good morning @Reader, Last Sunday I wrote about a distinction that has stayed with me all week: The rules tell you what an expert knows. The exceptions tell you how an expert thinks. Since then, another question has kept coming up in conversations: If judgement is where the real edge lives, who actually owns it? Because something interesting is happening in AI. The models are getting better. Faster. Cheaper. More accessible. And increasingly, everyone has access to broadly the same underlying...
